Registered Nurse Rn Diabetic Educator Job Description

Tulane Medical Centeris looking for a Registered Nurse (RN)Diabetes Educator. Position requiresLA RN license.

  • The Registered Nurse Instructor workscollaboratively with an interdisciplinary team in providing education relatedto the care and management of diabetes. The Registered Nurse serves as aconsultant, facilitator, practitioner and educator for the diabetes populationat Tulane Health System. The Clinician is responsible for assessing andevaluating patient needs, providing specialized teaching for patients andfamilies, and follow-up care on this assigned patient population.  The Clinician also provides education andacts as a resource for staff for the defined patient population.
  • This role will report directly and work closelywith the Program Director and may help to plan events, build curriculum andmanage productivity of the program. The position requires that the candidate tohave leadership experience in supervisor or managing an education program.

New Orleans Call Center Job

Registered Nurse Rn Diabetic Educator Job Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Graduate of an accreditedschool of nursing, current Louisiana RN licensure. Certification by theNational Certification Board for Diabetes is strongly preferred. CPRcertification required. 

Education: Baccalaureate degree strongly preferred.
Experience: 3 years experience inrelated clinical area preferred

Special qualifications:
  • Must demonstrate a strong clinical knowledgebase.
  • Leadership and team work experience required.
  • Effective communication skills effective problemsolving skills
  • Must have excellent assessment and leadershipskills, and must have the ability to work within a team environment to ensurequality patient care.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse,patient-centered, holistic atmosphere.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skillsrequired.
  • Able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to lead and work as part of aprofessional team and to collaborate effectively with individuals internal aswell as external
  • Ability to use various standardized wordprocessing and spreadsheet software required.
Hours of work: 8am-5pm or as required to meet the needs of thepatient and staff. Ability to work flexible hours as necessary beyond a 40 hourwork week, must be willing to take call.
