Access Service Representative / Lgmc Pfs Scheduling Call Center / Ft Job Description
The Access Registration Representative acts as a receptionist and resource person to the patient, family, staff and physicians. The Access Reg Rep prioritizes patients upon arrival by patient type. The Reg Rep is responsible for managing the Access Patient Tracking system by listing the patient according to the service requested and working the list according to the priority of the patient type.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Access Reg Rep will work directly from the Patient Access Tracking System and faxes.
The Access Reg Rep will proactively seek to obtain doctors orders that are signed correctly with a diagnosis and clearly defined test.
The Access Reg Rep arranges for prompt, courteous and efficient pre-registration and registration of all patients. Checks all scheduled and pre-registered patients into the scheduling book to alert the department of the patient’s arrival. Makes travel arrangement for the patient via escort services or by giving a printed map of the facility.
Collects deposits and assist with financial arrangements being made.
Works with the gatekeeper for direct admits by assisting with insurance verification and verifying benefits.
Is responsible for all faxes for patient placement and working with the floors to make sure patients are in the correct status and have the correct admitting physician according to the order.
The Reg Rep is responsible for patient placement for the bed board census.
The Representative will have a working relationship with all departments serviced by Registration. The Access Representative will report any issues to the Patient Access Supervisor or PFS Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Light Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 0-10 pounds on occasion. Most work is sitting at a computer, sending/retrieving faxes from a fax machine, walking paperwork to and from the work area no more than 20 feet and talking on a phone. Requires excellent speaking and hearing for phone conversations.
